Jay oh Bee Not

Have you ever heard that news quote about how the majority of Americans are just 2 paychecks away from being homeless.
Two, dos, one two.
Husband, along with his coworkers have been downsized or in plain terms no one will have a  J O B by the end of next month. So in reality three paychecks.
While we're not gonna be homeless nor go hungry we are just 3 paychecks away from zero income.
Zip, zilch, nada, goose egg.

Hard days night or slept like a baby ?
While I would have hoped to have every last one of my mason jars filled or shelf after shelf filled with commercially canned food it's all good. We have 4 cords of firewood, no car note, and a good half gallon of elbow grease coupled with good old fashioned survival skills.

We've been practicing living on the (poverty) line. Now we just need to kick it up a notch.

  2. Thanks but it could be worse. It could always be worse. After the Pow Wow with the district manager some of his coworkers were crying. He was thinking about opening day of deer hunting.

  3. I feel your pain! My husband was laid off April 2009; had a bit of temp work here and there and he has FINALLY found a new job that starts today. It seems EVERYONE is in the same pot of hot water but thankfully we all get pulled back out from time to time.

  10. Actually this happening before the holidays isn't that much of a difficulty since we have been making our gifts these past few years.
Just wonder how I'm gonna trim the fat from an already lean household budget.

  12. I am sorry to hear of your husband's job loss. My brother just got laid off from his job. He asked me what he could do for a job. He has a talent for building blackpowder guns (not from kits) and making buckskin coats, shirts and other pieces of clothing. So I told him to do that. He never thought of it! I think your husband thinking of deer hunting is a good sign. There are other ways to live, though it is hard in these crazy world we are stuck in.

  13. That is an excellent idea about gun smithing & coats.Your just the person to steer him in the right direction.
If we didn't need cash for the bank notes then this wouldn't be a problem but lets face it showing up in the lobby of my local M&T branch with a bushel of garden produce and a few meat rabbits isn't gonna pay the mortgage.
